My goal in photography is capturing the spontaneity and beauty of nature, whether it’s a heron lunching on a sculpin, whales bubble feeding in Southeast Alaska or a spectacular galaxy spinning millions of light years away.
I grew up in Juneau, Alaska, where I relished all aspects of the outdoors, spending my free time romping through the woods and exploring the waters of Southeast Alaska. My passion for wildlife and nature photography began in high school with an old German 35mm film camera. Although I couldn’t pursue photography after high school due to family and career commitments, I never lost my passion for it. After retiring in 2018 from a career in the environmental field, I picked up photography again, using Nikon D810 and D850 cameras along with various wide-angle and telephoto lenses to pursue wildlife and landscape photography. In 2020, I expanded the scope of my photography by rekindling a life long interest in astronomy and purchased the necessary equipment to image deep sky objects.
I encourage you to take a little time each day to appreciate nature's immeasurable impact on the quality of our lives and to enjoy the incredible natural world around us.
